title: For Technology Leaders | Lean AI, Lean Enterprise Institute
description: "For technology leaders: not forward deployed, forward developed. Systems that scale, and teams that can still change them. Two capabilities in the right ratio: a center you build and run, and builders in the business you develop. Routes to Lean AI for Value Streams and Lean AI for Teams."

hub For technology leaders

# Not forward deployed. Forward developed. Systems that scale, and teams that can still change them.

Lean has always asked how to keep an organization pointed at the customer, and support the people closest to the work, as it fills with technology. The answer carries over to AI: partners in the business who own the outcome and can change the work as the technology changes.

For CTOs, CIOs, and heads of engineering and data

Best brought with the business leader who owns the work.

The principle

## Change the work while the technology goes in.

Technology changes the work whether anyone plans for it or not. If nobody changes the work and the management system on purpose at the same time, people work around the tools, reach for ones you never sanctioned, and the technology team takes the blame. That is the lesson of the [Lean Transformation Framework](https://tech.lean.org/lean-ai?hsLang=en): the work, the capability, and the management system move together, or nothing moves.

### Your platform team

Builds and runs the core

Identity, data, guardrails, and the interfaces. Yours to own, with your engineers and your vendors.

### The people closest to the work

Develop them

They own the outcome with you, tune the tools to the work, and keep the work changeable as the tools change. The part you can't rent.

Builders can come up from the work, or come in and learn it. Either way, they sit in the business and stay on your payroll.

What we coach

## Governance that looks like enablement.

check\_circle

**Builders in the business.** People who learn to build by solving real problems, with AI in the method. Not tool training.

check\_circle

**What stays changeable.** Which parts of the workflow and the tools the people doing the work must be able to change themselves, how to keep them that way, and how to keep it visible when it drifts.

check\_circle

**How leaders support it.** The management system and leader behavior that set autonomy, widen it as capability grows, and go to see the work.

**Your vision, with your people ready for it.** Your leadership, engineers, and vendors shape where the technology and the business are headed. We help the people and the work grow into it, starting in one of two places:

### [account\_tree Lean AI for Value Streams Your work transformed, one target condition at a time. Where the work and the technology change together. How it works](https://tech.lean.org/lean-ai-for-value-streams?hsLang=en)

Who you'd work with

## People who scaled technology organizations before the agents arrived.

handshake

## Bring one value stream and the leader who owns it.

We'll look at the work together: where its builders come from, what its people need to be able to change, and how leaders support it.
